Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Where: Hermitage Artist Retreat

Last year while in residence at the Hermitage, Daniel Nord used a heat gun to capture the outline of sculptures he created of sand on our beach. Back in California he built them into kinetic sculptures which were exhibited in the Torrance Art Museum. His polycarbonate castings of his own damaged body compose much of his mixed-media sculpture 'Sleeper.' Within the castings are LEDs that throb like a bloodstream or imply x-rayed bones and Frankensteinian internal organs. You can learn more about Daniel on his website www.danielnord.com

California artist Fran Siegel who presented her work last year while in residence will give us an update. You can learn more about Fran on her website www.fransiegel.com. As a multi-disciplinary artist Juana Valdes’ work traces, recollects, and records her own personal experience of migration. Her artwork is informed by her Afro-Cuban ethnicity and the experience of growing up in America. You can learn more about Juana on her website www.juanamvaldes.com
